The beats always flow for me but the mundane movements between them is where I struggle. I’m working on being able to thread the relationship through those scenes, as opposed to having a strong fleshed outline and backtracking for those threads.
Honestly, this is where I struggle too. Those quiet moments where the chemistry is really built. I think that’s what makes writing really good romance so hard and why there are quite a few mediocre romance books out there
I love Romancing the Beat and Beat Sheets as the % means I can utilise it no matter the length of the novel/novelette etc. It kept me very focused during the last thing I wrote - and I will definately use it as a rough guide next time too.
